Late last month, President Obama once again unilaterally refused to enforce our country’s immigration laws. He began issuing directives that grant amnesty to illegal immigrants without the consent of Congress.
The latest directive, The Heritage Foundation’s Jessica Zuckerman explains,
instructs Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials not to enforce immigration laws in cases where an illegal alien is the primary provider for any minor child — regardless of the child’s immigration status — or the parent or guardian of a child who is a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
Heritage has often argued that “strong families are priceless, providing an abundance of benefits to both adults and children and creating the bonds of strong societies.” It is imperative that efforts be made to support the family.
Equally important though, is that such efforts should be not only compassionate but also fair and respectful of the rule of law.
Do you think it was right for President Obama to subvert Congress this way?
