Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has come under fire from liberals for his budget proposal, which would balance the budget in ten years. But balancing the federal budget over ten years is “hardly extreme,” Heritage President-Elect Jim DeMint said today on Fox News.

“I applaud Paul Ryan and the Republicans for stepping out and being willing to take the criticism,” he said.

Do you think we can balance the budget in ten years?

I would like the budget to be balanced “yesterday” so that my adult children could start earning enough money to save for a home, save for their children’s college education, save for a rainy day, to have their salaries restored to the pre-Obama era, and perhaps a raise later on (unlike Federal and White House employees); for more job opportunities and economic growth; so my grandchildren don’t have to pay for “our” debt. I wonder how many baby-boomers would like it if their parents had straddled them with debt during their supposed most productive earning years — and — our national debt in the trillions of unfunded liabilities. Something has got to stop this monstrous government, it is smothering us.
